In the midst of finals week, I bring you this fun post about what I'm going to miss about Paris and what I'm looking forward to upon returning to the US! -What I'm Going to Miss About Paris: -certain aspects of my homestay, including the garden and how amazing it smells, madame, the delicious food she makes for us, and not having to clean or wash dishes -the walk to and from the tram (it’s become routine but i know i’ll miss it) -the convenience of the metro—if you miss a train, there will be another in 2-5 minutes. if you miss a bus in long beach, you get to wait 30. -fresh baguettes that are crunchy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside -having bakeries just down the street -my friends (it’s sad because we’re going to be spread out all over the US and have to deal with time differences now) -my roommate--it's going to be so weird not having her around to talk to all the time, and i'm going to miss my built-in Paris adventure buddy! -not having homework or having to write big papers -cheap school lunches -having 100 gb of data a month instead of 1 gb -watching N’Oubliez Pas les Paroles (the French version of Don’t Forget the Lyrics) with my host mom -metro rides, especially people playing music on the metros or in metro stations -my favorite restaurants, especially Stop Cluny -the Eiffel Tower of course -also Notre Dame -the Seine -the beautiful flowers everywhere -having a set schedule of breakfast and dinner being served at certain times so it keeps me on track and motivated to get things done (whereas at home I can keep pushing meals off/snack all day) -having a new adventure to look forward to every few weeks Things I'm Looking Forward to About Going Home: -not having to pay to reload my navigo (metro) card (the metro is convenient but certainly not cheap) -my parents -all of my Sac and LB friends—i miss you!!! -my apartment -target -trader joe’s -sunset beach walks -ice -jamba juice (and smoothies in general) -acai bowls (monoprix “acai bowls” do not count) -fast wifi (also wifi at school that doesn’t log me out every five minutes) -CSULB campus -CSULB gym, yoga, and zumba -planning and making my own food, having control over what i eat, and not having to eat things i don’t like/that i know will make my stomach hurt out of politeness -not having to interact with people when i don’t want to -mexican food -HBO go and amazon prime (they don’t work in France except for a few random things on prime) -Spotify ads going back to English … for some reason it’s more annoying to hear them say “Spotify Premium” with French accent idk -not having the “Change Your Apple ID Number” reminder on my lock screen constantly -my bluetooth speaker -my olay face spin brush -my rose water facial toner -my magnifying mirror -all my clothes i didn’t bring but especially my colorful flowy pants and my purple leggings -painting my nails -showers being a pleasant experience again … as in not having to hold the shower head to use it and having to turn the water on and off and getting cold! -not having to share a bathroom with four other people -being able to make tea and heat my heating pad without going down and up two flights of stairs and having to interact with people -being able to speak English everywhere! (although French was fun :))
